Government school

I read this on the Neal Boorz web site. The reason for the stupidity contained therein is self explanatory.

There is a history teacher in a government school in Nevada who is risking his job by teaching his classes about the American Revolution. Yup. You heard me right. It's happening in Carson City, Nevada, and in schools across the country. Joe Enge teaches 11th graders history in the Carson City government schools. His custom is to begin with the birth of our Nation and to finish with Watergate. Now the people who run his school want his course syllabus to change. He has now been instructed to begin his history lessons with post-Civil War reconstruction. He is not to teach anything about Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Bunker Hill, the Declaration of Independence, George Washington, Dolly Madison, Paul Revere, The Revolutionary War or the debate leading up to the ratification of our Constitution. The school principal excuses this absurd requirement by saying that other schools are doing the same thing. Well, he's right. According the the Fox News Channel report I saw last night, many schools around the country have dropped any requirement for American history completely! Others, like the school in Carson City, are just focusing on our 20th Century history, completely ignoring what came before.

Could there be an ulterior motive here? The post-Civil War history of this country is a history of growing federal government, the weakening of state governments, increased personal dependence on government, the end of the rule of law brought about by the emphasis on majority rule, and the deification of politicians. Perhaps there is a reason government schools don't want to emphasize the self-reliance and love of freedom that dominated American culture before the Civil War. No sense upsetting the government-owned apple cart, right?

Always remember the central lesson your children will be taught at all state educational institutions. Government is good. Government is great. All rise up in praise of government.

Mr. Muth, I want to thank you so much for challenging citizens of Carson City to investigate for themselves the situation with Joe Enge and the history curriculum at Carson city High School as suggested in one of your blog entries. Your suggestion was a good one that I took to heart and jumped on immediately. My results are very interesting and not at all what you claim. I have spoken to teachers, pupils and co-workers of Joe Enge, and you know what, I am convinced that he does have some issues in the classroom that he fails to address. Your road of deception and untruths depicts the lack of character and integrity from both of you and Mr. Enge. A recent blog where you depicted a draft of test question to be the final test is a fine example of this. There are many more. A school is where children come to learn not only the basics of many required subjects, but they also learn the importance of truth, honesty, integrity and other fine qualities that you and your follower are lacking. Character traits are something that good teachers model in hopes of producing good citizens. You and Joe are lacking in these traits. Instead you bash people on your web pages and give out email addresses of those who take a stand in hopes of offering nothing but harassment all the while claiming Joe to be a victim of what you two have done to others. Your adolescent sarcasm on your web pages reminds me of the quality people seen on the Jerry Spring show. I can also say this, I have yet to see anything negative on any publication in writing or heard anything negative from any school official regarding Joe Enge anywhere, all the while reading your half truths or lies on the many web pages you two manage. You are very skillful at taking truths and making them what they are not. A gift I suppose that you should be proud of, but then again you lack traits that require you to tell truth and not slant things in a particular direction. Go to the Carson High School and try to find supporters of Joe Enge, There isn’t much there. This is not because they fear retaliation as you claim, it’s because there isn’t much there. To drag the school where many young people attend should alarm us all. Perhaps ,you Chuck, should investigate Joe a little more. I have already discussed with another rural county where Joe used teach and they can tell you several key events Joe participated in that truly show his lack of character. Ask Joe about these events. I am sure he can remember them. Also, ask him about events here in Carson City where he represented his profession well by familiarizing himself with local Law Enforcement. I am sure these events will not appear in Joes Blog or yours. Also, ask Joe who threw out the first f-bomb to another teacher at Carson High. Yep, it was Joe. Again, not in his blog or yours. Even the words “award winning” are misleading. Joe received awards that he applied for, that any teacher can apply for if they choose, but what awards has he ever won for teaching excellence in the classroom by his peers or his administrator (none) and what awards did he win that he did not apply for himself.
Mr. Muth, I don't know you enough to guess what your agenda is, but it is not Carson High School. I can't help but think you are using Mr. Enge for your own agenda, perhaps to posture your own political platform. Shame on you Mr. Muth. The real issue is, and always has been, a teacher who has a sub standard work evaluation. Live with it and deal with it. So give the kids and good teachers of this institution a break and go away. The kids should have pride in their school. Don’t erode that pride with lies and deception. Remember, the schools were build for children. Not adults that act like children. I want to applaud the many fine teachers at Carson High School who have had to endure this ridiculous soap opera. You guys are the real hero’s of the young people of Carson City. You put up with a lot in the public school environment with all the social problems in society coming to your schoolroom door. Now you are forced to endure a problem from one of your own. You do not get enough positive kudos and you deserve all the accolades you can get. Also, I want to thank, Teressa Monroe Hamilton of the Carson City Central Republican Committee for her Letter in the Nevada Appeal for it truly revealed one of the true agendas of this entire situation. Ron Knect for School Board. I hope not. As a Republican, these people scare me. They should scare us all. It’s to bad that the players in this story have to trash good hard working people to reveal these agendas. Sheila Ward, can you say Methamphetamine. One of the leading problems facing young people in America and you can’t even say it correctly or classify it accurately. Your agenda is also very clear in this.
Lastly, please excuse any typos or grammar mistakes in this letter as Chuck Muth seems obsessed with grammar and my writing skills may not be as perfect as his as I work for living and have very little time to sit in front of a computer and criticize good people.
