An insomniac post

It is about 3:20 in the morning on Tuesday as I am writing this. I have tried falling asleep for a few hours now. My eyes are pretty heavy, as they have been all afternoon since powerwashing the remainder of my fence. The spray of dirt, algae, and water can really make your eyes tired.

A couple of things. I have still yet to even receive the courtesy of a response from the Etheridge campaign about an interview. Not even a "no" or a "we'll think about it". So I believe that I can effectively discount that possibility at this point.

As a result of this, I now feel comfortable with a permalink for the Mansell interview rather than the initial introduction via web download freebie services. HERE is the link to hear the interview via Real Player If you don't have the Real One Player yet, it is a decent media player, CD burner software, and the like.

I have so many ideas for civic service and things I would love to accomplish if only I had the time. These thoughts have kept me up for hours. I have also thought about things I want to do to modify an AR-15 rifle, what I want to accomplish tomorrow (actually later on today) as far as work around the house. I can choose from activities such as lawn edging, power washing the house and shed, power washing the driveway and walkways, trimming the hedges in the back yard, or nothing at all. I am on vacation this week, so I can do what I want. I do know that I will end up sleeping late today, once I finally do fall into unconsciousness.

UPDATE: It is not about 5:15 AM. I just finished writing my column for October 5th. These next two columns are either going to excite or really piss people off. They are, none the less, my opinion and truthful to the best of my knowledge and ability. The column really is about my opinions.

I have been thinking about starting a monthly gathering, maybe every other month. I have been wondering about maybe having an open discussion and social gathering night at a local establishment. The whole idea is to foster a sense of community. I have even thought about inviting a speaker to come once in a while. Whether that speaker is a candidate for elected office, a town official who will take Q&A, a community leader of some form, or whatever, I don't really care.

I was thinking that if we just gather, get to know one another, discuss common issues, and act like neighbors over a meal, a snack, or an adult beverage, then we can come together more as a community. If you are a Selmite and are interested in something of the sort, let me know. My email and phone number are on the right side of this blog.

Anyway, off to take care of a few things then maybe fall asleep. Please don't wish me "sweet dreams". Actually, no dreams would be preferrable. I rarely get out of REM sleep and into deep sleep. A sleep study confirmed this, but my bonehead doctor offered absolutely no suggestions for alleviating it.
