Voting irregularity found today in Selma, NC

I shared this on Facebook earlier.  Yeah, I know that I have not been blogging like I should be, but I actually do share a whole lot of stuff on Facebook, instead.  It is a lot easier to just share there.

VOTING IRREGULARITY: I was voter #73 in my precinct this morning. My wife voted about an hour or 90 minutes before I did. She said that the person in front of her to place their ballot in the voting machine had their ballot show an error upon scanning. The same happened to her when she put her ballot in the machine. When I got to vote and went to put my ballot in the machine it was rejected not once but twice. I was told that they would have to hand count the ballot after two rejections and my ballot had to be put in a separate bin. If we have at least three different errors out of 73 as of the time I voted, something is definitely amiss.

I watched the election results come in last night.  My wife and I checked both the local county races and some more state wide races.  We were on the county web site and sites from some local media outlets watching the results trickle in.  I finally saw our local precinct results post.  It is possible that my ballot was indeed counted.  

YET ANOTHER ADDENDUM:

Someone I know was a precinct official and was present when I tried to cast my ballot.  He was the one that registered me in the system in order to vote upon arrival.  He is also a friend on Facebook, saw my post, and commented the following:

Boo frickity hoo. Yet more threats against people exercising free speech and pointing out facts about Obama.

So add me to the list of those you will threaten, Barack Hussein Obama. I have started to call my dog, Barack O-dog-a.

If you can't stand the heat, Obama, well, you know the rest. Just within the past few days, I have been called a "neocon" (pretty un-frickin' believable, if you know what constitutes being a neocon), been ripped into by ignorant people who rewrite history, and arrogant for pointing out the rewrite. Oh, well. If Obama has been hanging out with domestic terrorists, then it should come to light.

Wal-Mart knows what is at stake. I wish all did.

The largest private employer gets it. Why can't the rest of America?

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is mobilizing its store managers and department supervisors around the country to warn that if Democrats win power in November, they'll likely change federal law to make it easier for workers to unionize companies -- including Wal-Mart.

In recent weeks, thousands of Wal-Mart store managers and department heads have been summoned to mandatory meetings at which the retailer stresses the downside for workers if stores were to be unionized.

According to about a dozen Wal-Mart employees who attended such meetings in seven states, Wal-Mart executives claim that employees at unionized stores would have to pay hefty union dues while getting nothing in return, and may have to go on strike without compensation. Also, unionization could mean fewer jobs as labor costs rise.

The only choice left

The NC Constitution Party may be a bunch of whining babies, but I do side quite heavily with the national platform. Chuck Baldwin is a familiar name to people in radio and in evangelical Christendom. He is the only sane choice left in the upcoming election. In 1860, Abraham Lincoln was a third party candidate in a fledgling Republican Party. It can happen again. It is not likely, but it can happen.

The attitude of the public officials, the pathetic security measures, the pathetic security tape, and the whole process makes me wonder about voting security around the country. Sad.

Looking at the NH primary numbers

I was checking out the primary ballot results for New Hampshire. Rudy Giuliani is not doing so well after two primary elections. Ron Paul got only about 2000 votes less than he did in NH. Tom Tancredo might as well hang it up. He got just 66 votes in the entire state. "No name" candidates we never heard of got a bunch more votes than he did. Write in candidates got about 4700 more votes than he did. Duncan Hunter announced he would stay in the race, but it is a lost cause. Here are the numbers. The numbers there differ slightly from CNN's numbers.

Two headlines that intrigued me this morning

During my internet news read this morning, I found a couple of headlines that interested me. By the way, I do not get all of my news from that site. It is one of many I read daily.

First is this one from New Hampshire (my old stomping grounds).

Dixville Notch, New Hampshire has cast the first votes in the New Hampshire Primary. McCain and Obama win the town. Hillary gets 0

It is good that Hillary got no votes. Bad that Obama got 7. McCain got 4.

The Assembly and the Senate 29-2 both voted overwhelmingly to approve the resolution, which expresses the Legislature's opinion without requiring action by the governor.

"This resolution does nothing more than say New Jersey is sorry about its shameful past," said Assemblyman William Payne, a Democrat who sponsored the measure.

The resolution offers an apology "for the wrongs inflicted by slavery and its aftereffects in the United States of America."

It states that in New Jersey, "the vestiges of slavery are ever before African-American citizens, from the overt racism of hate groups to the subtle racism encountered when requesting health care, transacting business, buying a home, seeking quality public education and college admission, and enduring pretextual traffic stops and other indignities."

Legislators in Alabama, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia have issued formal apologies for slavery.

According to the resolution, New Jersey had one of the largest slave populations in the Northern colonies and was the last state in the Northeast to formally abolish slavery, not doing so until 1846.

Now that is opening up a can

Many people in this town know of me but do not know me. Over the past month or more, I have been hearing rumors circulate and come back to me. I have gotten emails full of hatred for allegations that I can only assume are part of the rumor mill.

There are several reasons why I did not win the election this week, and I take full ownership of the reasons that were within my control. I could have worked a whole lot harder than I did, I will admit. There were also a lot of other things going on in life with which I have had to contend. FEW people know what those truly are. I do have close friends who know. They have seen it and experienced it themselves in a small measure.

When I hear a rumor come back to me one time, I set it aside. When I hear it twice, I take notice. When I hear it from a half dozen sources, I know there is validity to the idea that someone is spreading malicious rumors. One friend of mine deals with the rumors surrounding me and the election. Despicable people spread despicable gossip. Someone who knows me and my life, and has since 1992 opens up a can on the topic.
